Description/Blazon
A Silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned:  Argent, on a pale bretessed Gules a fountain surmounted by a bayonet palewise point up, blade Sable and grip of the first.  Attached below and to the sides of the shield a Red scroll inscribed "REINFORCE AND DESTROY" in Silver letters.

Symbolism
Red and white are the colors associated with the Engineer Corps.  The embattled pale symbolizes the mission of the Engineers.  The fountain, a heraldic symbol for water, represents the unit's home area, Houston.  The bayonet represents the unit's battle honors and decorations.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 16 December 1982.

That for the regiments and separate battalions of the Texas Army National Guard:  On a wreath of the colors Argent and Gules, a mullet of the first encircled by a garland of live oak and olive Proper.
